What is Salicylic acid, Sorbic Acid and Benzyl Alcohol and why are they in this product?
These three ingredients make up the natural preservation system that prevent the growth of harmful microorganisms, yeasts, molds and bacteria that can cause skin problems and sometimes blindness. All three ingredients are derived from plants and are COSMOS and ECOCERT approved:
Salicylic acid is a white solid, first isolated from the bark of willow trees (Salix spp.), from which it gets its name. It also occurs as the free acid or its esters in many plant species.
Sorbic acid is derived from rowan, or mountain ash, tree berries. It inhibits yeast and mold growth and is utilized in both food and skin products
Benzyl alcohol is produced naturally by many plants and is commonly found in fruits and teas. It is also found in the essential oil of many plants, including jasmine, hyacinth and ylang-ylang
